CHEMISTRY

Department of Chemistry was established since the inception of college. The First Batch of B.Sc. Chemistry Passed out in 2000. As per the need of students, P.G. Department of Organic Chemistry was started in 2008.

The department has two spacious and well equipped laboratories for conducting Under Graduate and Post Graduate practical courses. The department also has a separate computer laboratory with free internet access for online research and reference work.

Not limiting to only teaching and research activities the department as a service to society conducts campus interviews of Pharmaceutical & Chemical Industries.

The activities of our department are focused on achieving the mission of producing successful scientist, entrepreneurs and professionals with academic knowledge and skills for contributing to the current scientific demand of the society.

Achievements of Department

  • ⚬  Miss. Komal Sadaphal, Ex. Student was the Topper at the University Level in T.Y.B.Sc.
  • ⚬  Mr. B.B. Salpure, Ex. Student is working as a Chartered Accountant.
  • ⚬  Mr. G.D. Shirole is actively involved in Research under Ph.D. and Two Minor Research Projects funded by UGC and BCUD, University of Pune.
  • ⚬  Department has guided four students of M.Sc. project under Restructuring Programme.
  • ⚬  Mr. Sandip Varade, Ex. Student is working as a P.S.I.
  • ⚬  Four students of the department have qualified NET, SET Examination.
  • ⚬  The minimum average result of the department is about 85% every year.
  • ⚬  Four students have secured above 90% of marks at B.Sc.
  • ⚬  Around 75% of students have completed their Higher Education.
  • ⚬  Mr. A.S. Tambe has completed two Minor Research Projects.
  • ⚬  Recently Mr. A.R. Pagare completed an Orientation Course at Osmania University.
  • ⚬  The Dept. has 24 scientific instruments, IT Lab & Departmental Library.
  • ⚬  The Dept. has organized a National Conference in the International Year of Chemistry in 2011 and University Level Seminar in December, 2008.

Department Profile

PHYSICS

The department of physics was established since the inception of the college with the objective making physics learning interesting and applicable. From the academic year 2014-15 the special course in B.Sc. Physics has been introduced.

Our faculty members use internet and other educational aids for updating their knowledge & teaching skills. Seminars are given by the students on different topics including practical. Study tours, visit to industry and research institute help our students in their independent learning practices.

Student teacher relations are very friendly due to which we can shape the carrier as per their ability and capability which results in 100% placement of our students. Our teachers constantly upgrade themselves by attending orientation courses, refreshers courses, workshops, seminars, symposia, conferences.

As a social commitment teachers and students of our department visit nearby villages, farm laborers and organize meetings to popularize renewable energy sources. During the visit social awareness about the efficient use of agricultural pumps sets, home appliances and renewable energy sources so that electricity will be saved. This is a unique social activity of our department.

To solve the academic and personal difficulties teachers interact regularly with students face to face. This helps to increase boldness and enhance their confidence leve globally. Our faculty feels Physics Teaching and Learning is a Continues Process and exciting activity.

  • ⚬  Students are encouraged, counseled face to face for higher education, research opportunities and also for placement. The placement for our students is almost 100% in diversified fields.

  • ⚬  The teachers are always participating in academic, curricular as well as co-curricular and various extension activities.
  • ⚬  Mr. S. R. Potdar is working as Academic Research Coordinator of college & Mr.V. P. Bhalekar is working as Coordinator Internal Quality Assurance Cell of College.

MATHEMATICS

Department of Mathematics was established since the inception of the college. The department conducts courses upto S.Y. B.Sc. in a free and frank atmosphere. Faculty uses Internet and other Educational Aids for updating his knowledge and teaching skills. The faculty is actively participates in the Curriculam Development Workshops organized from time to time. The department has organized a Workshop on 24th February, 2012 entitled 'Application of Mathematics for Students'.

Students are encouraged to participate in programmes like MTTS, IIT Workshop, Madhav Mathematics Competition etc. Personal attention is paid to each student of the Department. Student, Teacher Relationship is friendly due to which we can shape their carrier as per their ability which results total placements of our students.

BOTANY

Department of Botany was established in 1997, is one of the leading Departments of Arts, Science and Commerce College, Rahata and running academic programmes at UG up to S.Y. level.

The staff members are actively engaged in research and extention activities. A number of research papers (10) have been published in National and International Journals and also presented in Seminars, Conferences in India.

So far the department has organized one National and One State level Seminar. The department has well established laboratory for UG Students.

The botanical garden is well maintained with ex.situ conservation of some rare and endangered medical plants, collected from the Western Ghats.

ZOOLOGY

Department of Zoology was established in 1997 it offers courses to F.Y. and S.Y. B.Sc. students. The department has well established laboratory for UG Students.

The department organizes study tours gives the practical knowledge to the students. The faculty is actively engaged in research and extention activities.
