The NEP-2020 is an important step for shifting the paradigm of the Education System in India. The policy would stress making education holistic, inclusive and equitable on 29 July 2020 the union cabinet of India approved the New Education Policy which replaces the old education policy of India.
The NEP-2020 is based on a few fundamentals such as Access, Equity, Quality, Affordability and Accountability. The aims and objectives of NEP- 2020 are more focused on holistic development of students and also the inclusion of all types of students irrespective of their cast, creed and religion.
The NEP-2020 outlines specific objectives to guide the transformation of India's education system with focus on inclusivity, quality and innovation. These objectives are designed to address the needs of diverse learners and prepare them for future challenges in rapidly evolving world.
The objectives are achieving universalization of education at all levels, integration of technology and digital learning, promotion of multidisciplinary and holistic education, improving teacher quality and professional development, promoting equitable and inclusive education, focus on skill development and vocational education, strengthening governance and regulatory framework, promoting lifelong learning opportunities.
As per guidelines from UGC, Government of Maharashtra and affiliating University SPPU Pune NEP-2020 is implemented since 2023-24 for post graduate classes and from academic year 2024-25 for under graduate classes.
